Changing colour during German Short Rows

Changing colours while working short rows is much easier than you might think. I’ll explain it here using German Short Rows with double stitches.

  1. Knit to your turning point.

  2. Turn your work, but don’t create a double stitch.

  3. Instead, pick up your new color and work all stitches in pattern as usual until you reach your next turning point.

  4. Turn your work and this time create a double stitch as usual.

  5. Work back to your next turning point and then continue working your short rows as usual. If you work past your previous colour change, simply work those stitches normally in pattern as well.

  6. And that’s all there is to it.
