Construction:
The scrunchie is worked in the round in stockinette stitch using circular needles. First, a short tube is knitted and then gathered.
The hair elastic is placed around the tube. The knitting is then closed by bringing the open edges together, fully enclosing the elastic. Finally, the edges are joined with single crochet stitches, creating a clean and professional finish.
